about

A Start:

It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times. Yes indeedy, Wallaby Willington was a labour of love which encompassed any number of unfashionable instruments, animal noises, masks and cakes.

A Question:

Were Wallaby Willington twee?
Answer: Maybe?
We had accordians and trombones and sea shanties and we wanted to be friendly and there may have been a couple of earnest love songs but then most of the band loved doom metal and we had a side project in which I screamed so hard the blood vessels in my eyes all burst...

The Handwringing:

We existed between 2004-2006 before imploding as young bands are want to do. I think we were pretty good. Sure some of the melodies could have been fine tuned and we could have spent more time recording but as a document of what we were it was just fine.

Some Influences:

We liked to call ourselves tiny folk implosions - we were willfully eclectic as only pretentious young people can be. We had the following influences on our sound;
Folk, Indie, Elephant 6, Acoustic Emo, Big Band Jazz, Mathcore, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Philip Glass, Nursery Rhymes, Rounds, Funk, Captain Beefheart and some other junk.
If you want to call it indie schmindie that's fine, too.

Some Memories:

1. Being heckled by a drunk clown and middle aged line dancers whilst playing at the back of a hospital.
2. Walking through Co-Op every Thursday with a borrowed bass that bore the legend "
3. On a Rope by Rocket From The Crypt being banned from practices due to it's incessant jammage.
4. The world missing out on the acoustic folk version of Da Funk we worked on.
5. Telling Laurence to play like he didn't know how to play guitar and his face lighting up.
6. Oli snorting sherbert and puking all night.

A "Joke":

A man walks into an Italian tailors, called "Euripides". He asks if he can try on a pair of slacks. The tailor replies "sure but Euripides jeans you pay for dese jeans".
